We don't get up there like we use to.
Only seconds after we got there the children were headed out back to check on the chickens and Thumper.
This is where they spend most of their time while we're there.
It kind of cracks me up. A chicken coop. Aidan and Cole proudly presented Grandma with eggs from the coop. You know how Grandma heaps on the excitement and gratitude? Well, a chicken can only lay so many eggs, but those boys were determined to keep bringing them in. So they'd search the area.
They'd bring in eggs that had fallen behind things and eggs that had gone astray and "were hard inside" when they shook them. My favorite was when Aidan came running in with one and said, "I watched the chicken lay this one!"
Oh boy. Wash your hands man.
When they could find no more eggs they headed to the garden in search of produce.
They brought in tomatoes, cantaloupes, green peppers.
Grandpa's pasture sprinkler caught their attention and they gradually became soaked.
And then on that warm Saturday evening of October 2nd I sat on the "new" deck and watched the kids run through the sprinklers in a game of freeze tag.
If the sprinkler hit them, they were frozen and had to be rescued by another player. After they were all sufficiently dripping wet, except that baby, they headed in for jacuzzis in the big tub.
Grandma says that this old chicken with poor eyesight is friends with Grandpa and waits for Grandpa to help her into the coop. He also lets her out in the morning to roam as she is the only chicken that doesn't eat the tomatoes. So Grace and I decided to help Grandpa out and put his chicken to bed. She knew we weren't Grandpa and didn't get too close. It was so cute to watch Grace bend down and pump her fingers in and out making little noises to get that chicken to come over, and when the chicken ignored us and pecked at her feathers she'd get up and wag her finger, "No, No, No!" Grandma finally helped us out getting that chicken to bed then helped Grace pet Thumper.
The men (Dad, Scott, John) enjoyed Priesthood together. Scott borrowed Dad's clothes. I love that. My husband can wear my Father's clothes right down to the shoes. We decided Dad has a smaller neck and thinner feet (his socks are tight). When the men got home the ladies (Mom, Felicia, Chloe & I) made a run to Rainbow Gardens. The Christmas decor was out on the back porch. We saw the cutest monkey sock tree ever. Adorable, and probably only $4,000 or so.
On Sunday morning we had our traditional pumpkin waffles with buttermilk syrup. Delicious. More Conference. And then Cole had his traditional nap in Grandpa's magic lap. He loves to crawl up on Grandpa's lap, rub his head, and fall asleep. Funny thing is it puts Grandpa to sleep too. So cute.
I took pictures of the two of them and we all laughed about the time they fell asleep and when they woke up Grandpa asked, "Cole, are you wet?" To which Cole quickly replied, "No, but you are."
It was a nice time. Thanks you two.

This is a nice post Aim. The simple pleasures of visiting Mom and Dad are hard to beat. I am grateful that they have always lived on a good piece of land.
