The tenacity of....his Father!

On Saturday Aidan decided he was going to learn to rollerblade.  And so he took Asher's rollerblades, his helmet, and headed out to the driveway.  He worked and worked.  He spent a lot of time on his knees, but he wouldn't quit.  After several hours he came in and his hair was soaking wet!  He reminds me of his Dad in this regard (not the sweating, wait a minute...) he just won't give up when he's got his mind set to something.

Let's take for instance, driving, Scott has decided he wants to drive again.  So he's made many phone calls, and has finally contacted the man at a rehab unit that will give him a driving test to see where he's at and what special devices he may need in the car, etc.  He's hoping to take that test before he starts school.  Anyhow, back to Aidan.

We had a ward pioneer parade/party @ the park on Saturday night.  So we headed down.  Part way through the party Aidan had to use the restroom.  Unbeknownst to me he left the park on his bike and went home to use the bathroom.  I saw him returning....on his rollerblades!  I received many comments from neighbors who saw him putting around the basketball court in his too-big rollerblades, determination etched on his face.  What a kid!

Sometimes when you're a kid and someone else is doing something that you want to do or has something that you want to have, you'll do what it takes to achieve your goal. Too bad we can't all have the same tenacity.

Good Job Aidan. Sorry to say my kids don't have a lot of cordination (I have know idea how to spell that). I was exercising this morning and Ethan wanted to do it with me. I could not get that kid to stand on one leg and then with the other bend it up and kick it out. So I had him sit down and try to just kick his leg out, nope! Learning to ride a bike was challenging and now he rides it everywhere but he needs help with the safety part, like don't run into cars. Swim lessons were a blast too and so was the golf lesson he had. Bless his heart, we think it has something to do with his Sydenhams Corea (also wrong). Tristan is so good at sports that it just is a mystery to him.
